Best time to ride
May to September is ideal for bikepacking across Germany, with long days and reliable weather in most regions. The Alpine south sees its best conditions from late June to early September, when snow has cleared the higher passes. Avoid August for popular riverside routes like the Elbe if you prefer quiet — spring and autumn offer the same scenery with far fewer other cyclists.
